Singapore, a perfect location for global events

With Asia on its doorstep, Singapore is the gateway to some of the world’s most unique and unexplored event locations, as well as an events destination in its own right.  Although not a new location, Singapore is constantly reinvigorating itself, with new openings and refurbishments happening all the time with a great choice of venues to suit events of all sizes and budgets.

For small groups, the Warehouse, a boutique hotel with only 37 rooms is a perfect location. Located in Robertson Quay and by the banks of the river, it was built in 1895 and has been a go-down, a distillery, and more recently a club. It has been restored with beautiful exposed brick walls and modern industrial chic lighting and a Singaporean fusion restaurant called PO and serves great cocktails. For small meetings, new quirky spaces are opening such as Huone, a design concept from Helsinki, which includes an enchanted forest and an igloo meeting room and Faber Peak, which offers stunning views across Sentosa and rides on the cable car.

Opening in autumn 2017 are The Sofitel Singapore City and Hyatt’s first Andaz hotel with a unique ‘street-dining-in-the-sky’ concept and a rooftop bar with a 360-degree view of Singapore’s skyline. New restaurants include Beach Road Kitchen which has a six seat Chef’s table where guests sit right in the heart of the kitchen. For larger conferences or conventions and with up to 1800 bedrooms over 6 hotels, Resorts World Sentosa offers something a little bit different and is complemented by Universal Studios for private cocktail parties or dinners.  The Marina Bay Sands, in recent years, has become the iconic symbol of Singapore, with its unusual architecture, casino, and its infamous infinity pool and continues to be popular for large groups.

To support conferences, local team building activities include Dragon boating and challenges set up to explore some of Singapore’s best known destinations, such as the Botanic Gardens, Mount Faber or the heritage streets of China town or Little India.  Free time can be spent in the wonderful Gardens by the Bay, lazing on a beach or visiting one of the many shopping malls. Not to be missed is partaking in Singapore’s national pass time of eating. The city has a wonderful choice of food due to a melting pot of cultures and cuisines from the traditional hawker fare to the high end Michelin starred global restaurants, there are edible delights to suit every palette and purse.
