British Academy Film (BAFTA) Awards Winners in 2016

The Royal Opera House in London was the home of the 2016 BAFTA Awards last night, the 15th February.

The Revenant was the big winner of the evening taking home five BAFTA awards including Best Film, Best Director for Alejandro González Iñárritu, and Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio.

Kate Winslet won Best Supporting Actress for her role in Steve Jobs and Mark Rylance Best Supporting Actor for Bridge of Spies. Brie Larson was named Best Actress for Room.

Mad Max: Fury Road, nominated for seven categories, took home the technical awards including Editing, Production Design, Costume Design, and Makeup and Hair. The Big Short, nominated five times, won for Best Adapted Screenplay and Spotlight for Best Original Screenplay.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ John Boyega won the EE Rising Star award, the only BAFTA voted on by the public.

Brooklyn was named best British Film, and Amy, about the life of Amy Winehouse, Best Documentary. Inside Out won the award for Best Animated Film.

In the meantime the countdown for The Oscars continues. With 2 weeks to go, TAG Global Film and Media is very excited for the two feature films The Danish Girl and Ex Machina, in which TAG Film and Media took part in. TAG wishes them the very best of luck at this years’ Academy Awards ceremony. The ceremony will held at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on 28th February 2016.
