TAG Film and Media at the BFI London Film Festival 2016
The BFI London Film Festival confirmed the dates for the BFI London Film Festival’s 60th anniversary edition, which will take place at venues across the UK capital from 5th-16th October 2016.
The BFI London Film Festival opens with the European Premiere of Amma Asante’s ‘A United Kingdom’, a film in which TAG Film and Media were proudly involved, managing and booking all the travel.
Directed by Amma Asante and starring David Oyelowo (Selma) and Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), the film tells the true story of Seretse Khama, King of Bechuanaland (modern Botswana) and Ruth Williams, the London office worker he married with in 1947 in the face of fierce opposition along with their families, the British and South African governments.
‘A United Kingdom’ was shot for seven weeks between Botswana and the UK, with TAG Film and Media having to deal with the logistical challenge of bringing crew and cast from the UK, the Czech Republic, South Africa and the United States into Botswana. The film kicked off the production in October 2015 and is being released in late 2016, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Botswana's independence.
Rick McCallum, ‘A United Kingdom’ Producer, says: “I just wanted to take this opportunity to write to you and thank you and all your team for the great service you provided us on ‘A United Kingdom’. It was a logistical challenge to bring crew and cast from the UK, the Czech Republic, South Africa and the United States into Botswana but you handled it brilliantly without a single mishap and I will always be grateful to everyone at TAG Global Film & Media for taking such great care of us without ever a whinge with all the hundreds of changes we had to make. You guys were brilliant and the service was always friendly, helpful and I appreciate it so much that you always looked out for and got the best deal for us.”
