10 Minutes with: TAG Academy Graduate Trainee - Diana Villegas

26 year old, Diana Villegas joined the TAG Academy programme in September 2017. Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Diana always had aspirations to be in the travel industry following her father who has worked for American Airlines for 30 years, providing her with lots of opportunity to travel. Outside of TAG walls, Diana's favourite thing to do is to travel or attend concerts!

1) What is your role at TAG?

My current role at TAG as a part of the TAG Academy is working on projects, tours, and tasks, that a Specialist would. The TAG Academy is designed to help us learn the advanced role with hands-on training on real tours or projects. The majority of my role is planning and managing travel for some of our entertainment clients’ tours- this involves everything from booking hotels, flights, chauffeurs, trains, private cars, airport greeters, and airport lounges for VIPs and crew members.

2) What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy the planning aspect of it all as every tour is different and every artist or band is unique- what works for one tour, might not work for another. Our clients entrust us to come up with a travel plan that best suits their needs, preferences, and budgets.

3) What does your typical work day consist of?

There is never a dull moment working in Touring. My typical work day consists of checking and replying to emails, making sure we tackle any last minute issues it might happen to the tours whilst they are on the road.On the other hand, when planning a tour, a lot of my time is spent negotiating with hotels, providing hotel quotes and flight options to tour managers, booking flights and hotels, and arranging chauffeur services or car rentals. The requests are always different and depending on the volume of the tours or projects and the urgency, there are days where I’ll work on one task most of the day.

4) Where would you like to be in your career five years from now?

I’d like to be overseeing larger tours and productions and hopefully by then I’d like to have been on the road on a tour.

5) What would be your perfect holiday/vacation?

I’d like to do an extended trip either country hoping in Southeast Asia or a Round the World cruise.  Something extensive with constant movement and new places.

6) What is your favourite city and hotel in the world?

Tokyo, hands down. The Peninsula Tokyo.

7) What is the one thing you cannot live without?

My cell phone! 100%
