The Appointment Group at the Major Events International Summit in London
TAG was delighted to participate in Major Events International B2B Summit last month, held at the now iconic Aquatic Centre at London’s Olympic Park.
The intention of the Summit was to unite key major events experts and players from around the globe for two full days to discuss infrastructure and event planning for major sporting competitions.
Attending the summit were highly influential stakeholders from the Commonwealth Games 2018, The Football Association, the Heads of Sector for London Legacy Development Corporation, major suppliers to the Olympic Games and Rugby & football World Cups. Also attending were representatives from Japan 2019 Rugby World Cup and Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the International Paralympic Committee and Qatar 2022 World Cup.
TAG’s Group Strategy Director, Andy Hampshaw chaired an open forum on the lessons to be learned from previous games, where the focus was very much on the importance of negotiating and contracting at the earliest possible opportunity. In particular when your event is taking place 4,000 meters up a mountain at the Winter Olympics!
TAG’s Sales Director, Ian Davies led the forum on the importance of strategic planning, which centred around the huge security operation which is now such a crucial element of major games and competitions.

The event was a great success with TAG forming a number of new exciting partnerships in this huge growth industry.
