BRIT Awards 2016 winners
As expected Adele was the big winner at the 36th Brit Awards last night, 24th February, taking home four awards. The ceremony took place at London's O2 Arena and it was presented by the British duo, Ant and Dec.
Coldplay opened the ceremony with a performance of their single ‘Hymn For The Weekend’ and went onto win best British Group, making them the most successful band in the Brit Awards history.
Other winners of the night included One Direction, James Bay, Catfish & the Bottlemen and Bjork. A David Bowie tribute was part of the show, featuring Annie Lennox, Gary Oldman and a powerful performance by Lorde singing Bowie’s 1971 classic ‘Life on Mars’, with his son praising the 'beautiful' tribute to his dad.
Adele won the first award of the night by picking up the statue for Best British Female, followed by the British Single Award with the worldwide hit ‘Hello’, BRITs Global Success and the Mastercard British Album Of The Year. The Tottenham born singer broke down in tears after astronaut Tim Peake announced her as the winner of the Global Success Award, broadcasting live from the International Space Station. Whilst on stage accepting her award, the singer also took a moment to publicly support Kesha.
