Caroline McCann’s overview of five months with TAG Global Touring US
It’s five months since Caroline McCann, Managing Director of TAG Global Touring US, moved from TAG HQ in London to Los Angeles to oversee the touring teams in the US, and it’s time to evaluate her time across the pond.
Currently leading a team of 30 tour specialists across TAG’s offices in Los Angeles, Nashville and New York, Caroline has been working closely together with all the offices, identifying each individuals’ strengths and evaluating their skills. One of Caroline’s first and most important goals was to emulate the structural set up and organizational hierarchy that has been implemented in the UK over recent years and seen the UK operation go from strength to strength. Each US office has a team consisting of different levels of ability including Tour Assistants, Tour Specialists, Senior Tour Specialists, Supervisors and finally Managers reporting to Caroline. The importance of organizational structure is crucial for the future growth of the US touring division and course to help achieving goals and results more effectively.
Caroline’s 19 years of experience at TAG have been paramount whilst working with tour and production managers streamlining working practices and procedures along with improving efficiencies to ensure TAG clients receive consistent professional paperwork for their tour, experience quick responses to each request and are provided with the highest level of service at all times.
Another key area Caroline has been able to focus on since relocating to Los Angeles is the launch of TAG’s Global Academy over in the US. Having been involved in the TAG Academy since it first began in the UK with two successful programmes previously in the UK, the academy was launched in September with 3 Graduate Trainees joining the touring team in Los Angeles to carry out the two-year training programme.
An enjoyable part of the relocation is meeting and building relationships with TAG’s US suppliers who we work closely with. Having got to know our preferred contacts in Europe very well over the years Caroline now has to do the same in the US with lots of new names and faces to get to know! Caroline relocating to the States and spearheading the company’s consolidation into the US touring market has allowed Byron Carr, TAG Group Touring Director, to focus on the division’s global strategy, management and profitability.
The next steps for both Caroline and Byron are to focus on TAG Global Touring business growth and operational strategy and to establish the company as one of the leading travel and tour management companies in the US.
