TAG Global Touring as the tour partner of Brian Leitch's 'The Cancer Bonus Tour'
The Cancer Bonus Tour is an amazing project lead by Brian Leitch, and The Appointment Group Global Touring (TAG) is very proud to have been one of the partners.
In 2009, Brian himself was diagnosed with a form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and thanks to ongoing research, a new chemotherapy treatment had been developed that cleared the disease and that's thanks to cancer research and the efforts of the NHS medical staff.
After 30 years’ experience in live music production, Brian decided to go on the road with The Cancer Bonus Tour. The aim is not only to raise money but also promote a positive message about cancer survival and public health care in the UK. The tour started on the 1st May in Brighton and it will finish on the 26th June 2017 in Bristol after visiting 332 venues throughout the UK and 105 different towns and cities ranging from Inverness to Truro.
Here are some of the amazing bands that are part of this project: Manic Street Preachers, Carole King, Bastille, Kate Nash, Rumer, Coldplay, Biffy Clyro, The Killers, Miles Hunt from The Wonder Stuff, Bryan Adams, Editors, Elbow, Slaves, Billy Ocean, Salad, Feeder, Marillion, Gabrielle, Embrace, Miki from Lush, Amber Run, Polly Paulsma, Ali Campbell and Astro from UB40, The Osmonds, amongst others….
The plan was for Brian to visit every one of the venues in his 1963 Vauxhall Victor (known simply as Victor). Victor is 54 years old and goes at his own pace, so Brian was not 100% sure of the whole itinerary - Victor actually broke down in Bolton, Manchester and later on it needed a new water pump! Life is not an easy road but for Victor the life on the road wasn’t easy either…
The tour has officially ended at Sandown Park in Surrey on the 29th June 2017 at the Backup Kartfest. The tour has raised an amazing £56,867 which will be donated to donated to Bloodwise and the Sussex Cancer Fund. Victor has now been sold and all the funds are going to help the utterly wonderful work from Backup, the Technical Entertainment Charity that provides financial support to industry technical professionals working in live events, theatre, TV and film.
