American Airlines order 47 new Boeing 787 Dreamliners

American Airlines(AA) has announced today that they will gradually replace its fleet of wide body B767-300, Airbus A330-300 and B777-200 jets with the latest versions of Boeing’s B787 Dreamliner. American Airlines has agreed to purchase 22 B787-8s for delivery in 2020, and 25 B787-9s for delivery in 2023.

Atlanta remains the world's busiest airport

Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson (ATL), the hub of Delta Air Lines, remains the world’s busiest for passenger traffic, according to new preliminary figures from Airports Council International (ACI). Virgin Australia announces services between Brisbane and Alice Springs

Virgin Australia has recently announced it will commence services between Brisbane and Alice Springs, increasing its regional domestic network offering. From 19 June 2018, Virgin Australia will operate a twice-weekly return service on Tuesdays and Thursdays under a wet lease agreement with Alliance Airlines (Alliance), operated by Alliance’s Fokker 100 and Fokker 70 fleet of aircraft.

American Airlines to launch Los Angeles to Buenos Aires service

American Airlines will launch its first-ever nonstop flights between Los Angeles International Airport and Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires, Argentina as part of a broader expansion in service to Mexico and South American destinations. American Airlines have also announced other destinations they will be flying to and from non-stop including Georgetown, Guyana (GEO); Pereira, Colombia (PEI) and Cordoba, Argentina (COR); and one new city in Mexico: Oaxaca (OAX).

British Airways drops Gatwick to Oakland route

British Airways (BA) has confirmed plans to drop the flight route from Gatwick to Oakland International for this winter. BA launched this route back in March 2017 from the San Francisco Bay Area Airport, and have been competing with Norwegian on the route.

Lufthansa launches flights from Munich

Lufthansa has launched A380 operations from its Munich hub, with superjumbo flights to Los Angeles, Beijing and Hong Kong. As reported last year, the German carrier has shifted five of its 509-seater A380s from to Munich, leaving nine superjumbos at Frankfurt.
