Emirates to launch third daily Brisbane service

Emirates announced it will introduce a third daily service to Brisbane, Australia from 1st December 2017, complementing Emirates’ existing two daily services. The direct service, to be operated on a B777-200LR aircraft with eight seats in First Class, 42 in Business Class and 216 in Economy Class, will increase capacity on the route by 3,724 seats a week, inbound and outbound between Brisbane and Emirates’ hub Dubai.

Meliá to add eight hotels to its portfolio in Cuba

Meliá Hotels International announced that it will extend its presence in the centre of the island with the addition of 8 hotels, while also assisting in promoting multi-destination vacations. In the city of Cienfuegos, Meliá will manage the 56-room San Carlos Hotel and the 49-room Union Hotel, both located in the historic centre of Cienfuegos, declared a World Heritage Site in 2005.

KLM to launch a direct service to Mumbai

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is launching a direct service to India’s largest city, Mumbai, effective 29th October 2017. During the 2017-2018 winter season, KLM will operate three weekly flights to Mumbai, departing on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Los Angeles Airport Terminal changes in May 2017

Qatar Airways has announced that commencing 7th May 2017, the airline will operate a third daily non-stop route from Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH) to Bali Denpasar (DPS). The new direct flight, which commences on 7th May this year, will operate with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

American Airlines launches new service to three European cities from Dallas Fort Worth and Chicago

American Airlines launches new, daily seasonal nonstop service between Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) and between Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN). The new summer service complements year-round service to Rome, Amsterdam and Barcelona from other American hubs and will run through September 30th, 2017.

SAS to fly direct from Stockholm to Miami from October

SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) is launching a new direct route between Stockholm (ARN) and Miami (MIA) from October 2017, which will depart once a week on Sundays starting on the 29th October. SAS now flies direct from Stockholm to Miami, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Hong Kong.

Virgin Australia turns on inflight Wi-Fi

Virgin Australia has commenced a three-month testing period of inflight wireless internet access on one of its Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Guests flying on the Wi-Fi enabled aircraft will be able to use the service free of charge during the testing period and can enjoy access to popular streaming services Netflix, Stan and Pandora on their devices while in the air.

Qatar Airways to increase Bangkok service to five daily nonstop flights

Qatar Airways plans to introduce a fifth daily non-stop service from Doha to Bangkok from 1st June, 2017. The increased frequency, along with its double-daily Phuket flights and the five-month-old Krabi operations (four flights a week), will take the number of weekly Qatar Airways departures from Thailand to Doha to 53.

Qantas new Kangaroo route on Sale - London-Perth-Melbourne on the B787

Qantas puts aussie art on its Business Class amenity kits

Qantas has teamed up with some of Australia’s leading artists, photographers and digital influencers to feature their work on the airline’s international Business class amenity kits. With artworks named Fairy Bread, 7000 Ironbarks and Maaate, the initiative called ‘Qantas Curates’ has seen the airline work with professional Australian contemporary art curators to select artworks from 16 Australians specialising in a variety of different styles including pop culture, photography, fine art, abstract landscape, Indigenous art and textile design.

Etihad Airways A380 goes double daily to Sydney
