Borders are opening – Events are back!

If you’re anything like us, the news that more and more international boarders are opening and in person event restrictions are lifting, will be music to your ears.

But no matter how excited you are about the return of in person events, there is no escaping the fact that there are new restrictions and processes that we all must navigate, whether hosting at home or abroad.

As always, we’re here to help you navigate this seemingly ever-changing landscape and create the perfect event for your attendees.

1. Use a specialist

Well, we were always going to say this, weren’t we? We’ve always been huge advocates of using experienced professionals for all aspects of your events agenda, but now more than ever access to these skills, knowledge and technology could be the difference between the success and failure of your event.

2. Keep up to date with changes

There are lots of changes happening as individual countries, regions, companies and venues figure out the best way to manage the situation. Things can change rapidly, so when you’re planning an event 12 months in advance, knowing what changes are happening and their impact on your plans is crucial. Using an app like TAGgo can give you travel information at your fingertips, meaning you can keep on top of changing criteria and ensure your guests do the same.

3. Explore hybrid options

Whilst we want to start making the most of face to face events again, we have to be realistic. We now know that plans can change at a day’s notice, so incorporating an element of remote functionalist to your event helps to ensure that should issues arises in a certain region, delegates can still attend virtually.

4. Have a backup plan

Similar to considering hybrid options, having a contingency plan should restrictions start again or procedures change can make a huge difference. Business continuity plans are written and in place for every possible eventuality – but all too often events are overlooked. Applying this thinking to your event and planning out scenarios could help for quicker decision making, should the worst happen.

5. Postpone don’t cancel

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – always try to postpone, not cancel. Working with a trusted events agency, like ourselves, means that you can leverage our industry contacts and rearrange your event, rather than having to cancel entirely. This is not only a more cost effective strategy, but it also retains good will form your delegates.

So what are you waiting for? Yes, there’s a lot to think about, but with the right support from the right team you can plan the comeback event of the decade. Drop us a note at events.uk@tag-group.com and let’s talk.
