Using data analytics to create sustainable businesses
TAG has partnered up with Susterra. Based in London, UK, Susterra is a software/consultancy firm specialising in sustainability services aimed at corporate travel – carbon reporting, analytics, footprint reduction and travel CSR solutions.
Susterra has developed carbon footprinting software, based on the ICAO Methodology, which produces data reports to a very high accuracy which enables travel efficiency mapping, this is used to increase travel footprint efficiency year on year after initial baseline calculations and reduce relative business travel carbon emissions, as well as reducing costs.
How does it work?
Aviation emissions contribute to climate change, and scientists say we need to do more to tackle the problem. While the greenest thing to do would be not to fly at all, this isn’t always possible – especially when it comes to business. We know that often contracts need to be signed in person, clients need to be met face-to-face, and sometimes, the only way to familiarise yourself with a new market is to explore the area yourself.
Carbon reporting
Using calculations (based on route, carrier, travel type and travel class) from our sustainability partner, Susterra, we provide clients with an in-depth analysis on the CO² emissions generated from their travel programme. We also highlight areas where journeys with a smaller footprint could be made, helping you to manage your company’s environmental and social impact.
Carbon offsetting
Carbon offset schemes allow individuals and companies to invest in environmental projects around the world in order to balance out their own carbon footprints. The projects are usually based in developing countries and most commonly are designed to reduce future emissions. This might involve rolling out clean energy technologies or purchasing and ripping up carbon credits from an emissions trading scheme. Other schemes work by soaking up CO2 directly from the air through the planting of trees.
