Enhanced Seating vs Premium Economy

To respond to the increasing amount of travellers seeking greater comfort when flying without having the means to travel in a premium cabin, airlines have become increasingly resourceful. Enhanced economy products have been added to the usual economy product, either in addition to a full “premium-economy” service or in some cases in its replacement.

Please find our selection below:

  • Delta comfort seats

For future travel starting May 16th 2016, customers will have the option to book the Delta Comfort+ fare; customers who purchase this will be able to select Comfort+ seats which offer:

  • Sky Priority Boarding
  • There is dedicated overhead bin space for Comfort + customers
  • Extra leg room
  • Free wine, spirits, and regional craft beers for customers 21 and over
  • Snacks on all flights with a premium snack basket being offered on flights over 900 miles
  • Complimentary access to everything on Delta Studio

Please note this enhanced economy product does not dispose of its own cabin and is located within the main economy cabin. Furthermore, please note the seats are no larger than the regular economy product.

  • Virgin Atlantic – Seat Plus

For those who appreciate extra space but like to avoid a business class fare, Virgin offers the “Seat Plus” option. Seat Plus allows travellers to purchase extra seats on Virgin for a standard nominal fee, for added comfort, Seat Plus will free up the seat next to you on your next flight in Economy.

Seat plus will offer you more space to stretch out and unwind, more space to make yourself at home and more space to relax. The Seat plus option can be associated with every person travelling, a larger group could therefore book an entire row of the plane.

Prices start from just £65/$100. Seat Plus is available to book for flights departing before 1st October 2016. Early booking is strongly recommended, seats are subject to availability and allocated on a first come, first served basis.

  • Skycouch  - Air New Zealand

The Skycouch is a row of three Economy seats that together create a flexible space for whatever you want it to be - an area to relax and stretch out in, or for the kids to use as a play area. It’s like having your very own couch on the plane.

With the side wall armrest up the length of the Skycouch is 1.55m (5ft 1”). And when the cushion and leg rest are combined the approximate depth of the Skycouch is 74cm (29”).

The sky couch can be booked directly by your travel agent, should you have a standard economy ticket you can upgrade to Economy Sky couch™ .

Please note seats are subject to availability and allocated on a first come, first served basis.

  • Economy Comfort – KLM

KLM has not gone down the premium economy route and decided instead to introduce an enhanced seating option called “Economy comfort”.

The Economy Comfort option offers the following advantages:

  • Up to 10 cm (4 in) more legroom
  • Up to double the recline (not on KLM Cityhopper flights)
  • In the front of the Economy Class cabin, so upon arrival you’ll be among the first to be on your way.
  • Please note: the service in the Economy Comfort zone is the same as in Economy Class.

Reserve your Economy Comfort seat for EUR 10 to 180 (£23.00 to £140.00 approx.) or 3,000 to 27,000 Flying Blue Miles. The earlier you reserve, the lower the price! Please note seats are subject to availability and allocated on a first come, first served basis.
