Exploring the South of France

The memories of exploring new corners of the world can stick with travellers for a lifetime. On a recent trip to the South of France TAG's Head of Learning & Development Danielle Myers was fortunate enough to do so, thanks to the generosity of Air France and the Cote D'Azur Tourism Board.
"I had no idea there was so much to do in the South of France," Myers exclaimed about her first visit. "The entire region is just... wow!"
Often, when travellers think of Cannes for a holiday, designer shops and yachts come to mind — but the region also offers so much more. With so many beautiful small towns in the area, there's plenty to do and to see, regardless of budget.
What new travellers to the area may not realize is that nearby towns and cities are easily accessible. Cannes itself is just a 35-minute train ride from Nice, and 11 minutes to Antibes. Looking to make the most of the coastline? Hiring a car will do the trick — plus, it's both a quick and affordable way to catch breathtaking views.
The toughest part of travelling to such a spectacular area is the decision making. From an array of hotels and local restaurants that fulfill every desire, there's a whole lot of something for everyone. "I was shocked to see how many choices were available for hotels in the area," Myers continued, "From the iconic five-star properties to the boutique hotels which have guests returning year after year due to the family atmosphere and personal service. If you like delicious food, this French region also benefits from being so close to Italy — meaning lots of Italian influences, fresh seafood and French specialties. You HAVE to try the Maison Du Bacon seafront restaurant in Antibes! Hands down (and I don’t say this lightly), the best dining experience I’ve ever had."
Once travellers are filled up on food and one-of-a-kind views, they can explore the art museums, local markets, or embark on guided walking tours for a taste of history and culture. "Saint-Honorat Island was also a highlight. This island is owned by the Monks who are the only inhabitants in their Monastery there. I recommend tasting the wine that is made and sold from their vineyards."
Myers concluded, "This entire trip was so incredibly fun and informative. A huge thank you to both Air France and the Cote D’Azur Tourism Board for such a memorable experience. I will definitely be back!"
