The What  

The Business Development Representative (Events) is responsible for supporting the strategic activities for selling TAG Events’ niche and unique offerings. The primary focus of this role is to develop and convert potential opportunities into confirmed business, as well as generate quality new leads and create a constant healthy sales pipeline. This position liaises closely with divisional leaders to understand and sell the TAG Events philosophy, and with the Commercial team for cross-division Sales and Business Development referrals.


As a Business Development Representative, you will have a diverse and varied role. Here are just some of the things you’ll be getting involved with:  

  • Generate quality new leads and create a constant healthy sales pipeline aligned to company, division and client targets
  • Maintain a portfolio of contacts pertinent to the Events offering
  • Utilise and assist Events staff to increase business from existing clients
  • Build a network of strong connections and use proactive approaches to attract prospective clients
  • Establish positive relationships with potential and existing customers to seek untapped leads
  • Accurately track prospective client interactions ensuring up-to-date information is always recorded
  • Keep CRM tools updated to expand and share prospects lists across all Sales and Business Development teams
  • Liaise closely with the Commercial team for cross-divisional sales and business development referrals
  • Meet KPIs for appointments/meetings and converted business development successes
  • Run and complete the end-to-end business development process
  • Work with the Marketing on company promotions
  • Identify and anticipate client-expected benchmarks to recommend improved services and meet  expectations

Other responsibilities of the job:

  • Uphold TAG’s reputation for high-quality service levels and represent TAG with full professionalism
  • Meet regularly with divisional management and attend agreed promotional events
  • Continually develop knowledge and skills in effective business development methods
  • Strong awareness of company and industry developments to stay comprehensively knowledgeable in the travel, entertainment and events industries
  • React to significant market conditions or threats and risks exercising good judgment to escalate appropriately
  • Perform other duties as assigned

As a Business Development Representative there are several credentials and attributes which would be advantageous, but a determined attitude and willingness to learn, are equally important. 

  • Education to Degree level or higher in related field, or the equivalent combination of education and directly related experience within the events industry
  • Suitable knowledge of the Events market, preferably within a TMC client-base
  • Competent user of CRM tools and platforms
  • Proven record of working in dynamic and fast-paced environments
  • Accomplished business development awareness and trusted representative with a collaborative and pragmatic approach
  • Capable of creating the bandwidth to handle client requests and support team/management simultaneously
  • Ability to manage own workload effectively and able to interchange independent work with teamwork

 
The Where and When 

This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) based in our London office. Since March 2020, we have operated a flexible, hybrid approach to working and will continue to do this moving forward. We will work with you to find the best mix of office and home working that suits your life and the needs of the team.  

You will report into the Global Director of Events, who is also based in London. There are other regional teams based in the US, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand that you may work closely with, too.
