The Appointment Group Second UK Training Academy Graduation

It is with immense pleasure The Appointment Group (TAG) announces the graduation of its second Training Academy for the UK. To celebrate, Travelport hosted a graduation ceremony on Friday, 17th August 2018 at their office in Langley.

Travelport provides locally delivered training for the TAG Academy and awards a Certificate of Completion for Travelport Galileo and Apollo Advanced Professional Users.

TAG Training Academy was founded with the purpose of fast tracking the careers of trainees. The 2-year programme was designed with the support of 12 preferred suppliers and its main objective is to equip the graduates with the advanced skills and knowledge required to thrive in an increasingly complex business travel environment.

During the course, the students are involved in a mix of classroom, online and hands-on training. Upon completion, they will be ready to take the next step in their career as a fully trained Travel Executive/Tour Specialist.

John Gianquitto, Founder of The Appointment Group and Jason Clarke, Senior Vice President and Managing Director at Travelport hosted the ceremony attended by the graduates, their mentors and TAG Training and Development Manager Lesley Adams, amongst others.

Lesley Adams, TAG Training and Development Manager: “The graduation is a significant marker for the TAG Graduates. In these two years, they have built their professional competencies and benefit from the expertise from our mentoring team, supervisors, managers and department colleagues. Alex, Tasos, Eugenia, and Michelle are determined, hardworking and highly-competent individuals. I sincerely wish them the very best in their future at TAG and all the success in the world.”

John Gianquitto, TAG Founder: “It has been another extraordinary year for the TAG Academy, after two very successful courses in the UK and last year’s launch in Los Angeles. We continue to see amazing talent joining the Academy and it is extremely rewarding to see the tremendous hard-work that the trainees put back into the programme. Investing in our staff is such an integral part of TAG; I could not be prouder of this project and its outcome”.

Paul Broughton, Travelport Managing Director Northern Europe said: “Travel technology is significantly changing the way travellers search, book and consume travel. Agents need to embrace this evolution and be part of it. For Travelport, being an active participant in the education of the new generation of travel agents is very important, and our partnership with TAG allows us to play a fundamental role in shaping the future of our industry.”

TAG Training Academy launched in 2015 in the United Kingdom and later in 2017 in the United States. As TAG’s operations continue to expand, we are committed to harnessing and developing new talent and that is why plans for an APAC Academy launch are underway.
