Virgin Atlantic Launches Codeshare With Kenya Airways The first phase of the new codeshare agreement between Virgin Airways and fellow SkyTeam member, Kenya Airways, launched 19 March. The arrangement allows Virgin customers to directly book flights on Kenya Airways' route between London Heathrow and Nairobi.
Cathay Pacific Unveils Aria Business Class Suite & New Premium Economy Seat The airline teased the launch of its new business class Aria Suite last summer, but has now provided more details of both, this, and the all-new premium economy seat. The suite will feature a sliding door, as well as a privacy partition between middle seats.
Air New Zealand Suspends Chicago Route Air New Zealand will pause its Auckland—Chicago nonstop service from 31 March to 25 October 2024. The route is being put on hold due to ongoing challenges with the availability of serviceable Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines powering its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet, which impacts airlines around the world.
Delta to Resume Daily Tel Aviv Service from New York-JFK in June Nonstop daily service resumes 7 June after an extensive security risk assessment by Delta, as the airline continues to closely monitor the situation in Israel. In recent months, Delta has strengthened its presence in Israel through a codeshare arrangement with EL AL Israel Airlines.

British Airways Moves to Cut Ground Emissions at Heathrow

The UK carrier said it was making a "multi-million-pound" investment to continue overhauling its fleet of ground vehicles at Heathrow, which are being replaced by hybrid or electric alternatives. BA added that 90% of its vehicles and ground equipment was already electric, hybrid or used more sustainable hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel.

UK Aims for Electric Flying Taxi Services by 2028

The UK government laid out plans for the development of these quieter and more sustainable aircraft, known as electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The plan includes launching the first piloted flying taxi by 2026 with regular services set to begin two years later. The roadmap also calls for the testing of autonomous flying taxis, which will operate without human pilots on board by 2030.
