Qantas & IndiGo Pen New Codeshare Agreement for Extra AU-India Routes

Customers can now seamlessly connect from Qantas flights in Singapore onto IndiGo's services to Delhi and Mumbai. This adds to the existing codeshare arrangements, which offers customers on Qantas flights in Bengaluru and Delhi the ability to connect onto IndiGo domestic services to 21 other destinations across India.  

Qantas to Suspend Shanghai Service

Australian flag carrier, Qantas, will suspend flights between Sydney and Shanghai beginning 28 July. Customers can still travel to Shanghai via Qantas flights to Hong Kong that then connect to partner airlines. 

Garuda Indonesia & Singapore Airlines Strengthen Their Commercial Partnership

Garuda Indonesia and Singapore Airlines committed to deepen their commercial partnership, with the aim of offering reciprocal benefits for the frequent flyer program members, and to explore revenue sharing arrangements for flights between Indonesia and Singapore. The frequent flyer partnership will allow GarudaMiles and KrisFlyer members to earn and redeem miles on codeshare flights operated by both airlines. 

United Cancels Auckland & Brisbane Flights to Los Angeles

In the upcoming winter schedule from late 2024, Star Alliance member, United Airlines, no longer plans to operate its seasonal routes from Los Angeles to both Auckland (AKL) and Brisbane (BNE). United will continue to serve Auckland and Brisbane out of its San Francisco hub.

Japan Airlines Deploys World's First Ground Power Units Powered by Batteries


Japan Airlines has introduced the world's first electrically powered ground power units (eGPU) at Matsuyama Airport in Japan. The units, manufactured by Tokyo-based Tamagawa Aero run on lithium-ion batteries. They are expected to significantly cut CO2 emissions and noise pollution that conventional GPUs emit by running on fossil fuels, such as diesel, or even auxiliary power units (APUs) installed in commercial aircraft.
