August at a Glance
A celebration of history and Flemish culture, the 44-room August is a modern-day sanctuary set within a former Augustinian monastery in the heart of Antwerp. The structure has been reshaped under the guidance of renowned Belgian architect and designer Vincent Van Duysen. August has since become a social hub; a welcoming place to have a coffee, a drink, or a meeting, or to get lost in the quiet gardens or the intimate spa. The hotel’s restaurant concept—a modern brasserie that considers its location and history—has been developed by chef Nick Bril who heads The Jane, a two-Michelin star eatery nearby.

Mouche Van Hool is fast becoming a name to reckon with in game-changing hospitality in her hometown of Antwerp. August—a former Augustinian monastery—showcases another side of the city, one that has captured her heart: “Antwerp is quite a dense city, and the new ‘Green Quarter’ real estate development is so close to the city center and yet so remarkably peaceful, with so much open space. It simultaneously represents the changing face of Antwerp and its history, while affording one room to breathe.”
