Discover New York thanks to more flights, better schedules and new airport investment

Frequent flights every day

It’s the perfect partnership: British Airways and American Airlines. Together we offer up to 16 flights a day to New York - the city that never sleeps. By joining forces, we can give you a wider choice of flight times departing London, including priority boarding and dedicated check-in if you’re flying business. Of course, whoever you fly with, once you’ve stepped on board, you’ll enjoy award-winning service all the way to John F Kennedy (JFK) or Newark Liberty (EWR) International Airports.

British Airways’ grand designs in New York

New York is British Airway’s most popular long-haul destination - and the latest to benefit from some fresh investment. The £52 million redesign at JFK Terminal 7 includes a spacious new check-in concourse, inspired by The First Wing makeover in London. There are also new security areas, contemporary shopping malls, smarter gate seating and beautiful new spaces for you to relax, dine and work in before take-off. If you’re a First or business class customer, Gold or Silver Executive Club card holder, there are completely regenerated lounges and restaurant-style pre-flight dining. While the Concorde Room for First customers has also had a refresh. The whole idea is to give you a smoother, faster and more relaxed airport experience. What better reason to fly Stateside?

Flying the American Airlines flag

American Airlines’ investment in JFK Terminal 8 includes a bigger Flagship Lounge. This means that, alongside First class customers, Business class customers travelling on qualifying international and transcontinental flights can now enjoy access to the lounge too. The smarter, larger area has quiet rooms, individual work pods, and even luxurious showers for travellers who want to refresh before they fly. The premium experience doesn’t stop there: Flagship First Dining is a sit-down restaurant service inside the Flagship Lounge with a choice of hot and cold buffet, an a la carte menu or a chef’s table of made-to-order dishes. All are made from locally-inspired menus and ingredients. Plus, there’s premium wines, champagnes and even a craft beer or two to match (cheers!). What better way to wind down before you take off?

A new home in New York

From 2021, British Airways and American Airlines will be co-locating in Terminal 8 at New York’s JFK airport. This major £250 million reinvestment will give customers a better, more exciting world-class experience when they fly to New York. There will be additional stands, state-of-the-art baggage systems, new lounges for First and Club World, premium check-in areas and upgraded concessions. And, although British Airways will remain in Terminal 7 until 2022, there’s already much anticipation about its new space. After all, it’s part of British Airways’ £6.5 billion investment, which will be rolled out over the next five years. Happy new home in New York!

New exciting transatlantic destinations

Last year it was Nashville and New Orleans. This year, British Airways and American Airlines are bringing you even more new transatlantic destinations to choose from. You can now dance your way directly to the charming, soulful city of Charleston in South Carolina, where you can wander the cobbled streets, elegant French Quarter and Battery Promenade. Or there’s the Pennsylvanian city of Pittsburgh with its mountain backdrop, thriving arts scene and tech start-ups (which is why it’s nicknamed Robot City). Finally, American Airlines is flying to Phoenix: so along with British Airways you’ve one daily flight each to the ‘Valley of the Sun’. With hiking trails amid fantastic mountain scenery surrounding Phoenix and even the Grand Canyon and Sonoran Desert just a few hours away – you won’t be short of things to do.
