ITB Asia Virtual Event 2021

On 26th October 21st our General Manager, Corporate Travel, Brett Thomson, will be speaking on the increasingly important topic of ESG, or to give it its full title - Environmental, Social and Governance.

Focusing on the responsibility Business Travel has towards finding more sustainable ways to travel in the future, Brett will be discussing how corporate travel management companies and travel managers must adapt to the travellers’ sustainable mindset for the long term.

“Sustainability is a hot topic right now, but we need to work hard to make sure it’s more than a buzzword,” explains Thomson. “At TAG, we’ve partnered with EarthCheck to help guide our ambitious sustainability roadmap. We aim to be considered as a thought leader in sustainable travel and I’m looking forward to sharing our insights and current learnings in this ever-evolving space.”

Reporting with EarthCheck will allow TAG to monitor and evaluate our impact, including local community interaction, carbon emissions, and operational savings through more efficient use of resources. When organisations manage and improve compliance in areas such as environmental emissions, energy efficiency and waste management, they can save costs, support local economies, conserve natural resources and cultural heritage, and help to improve the quality of life for locals and visitors alike.

“The tourism industry and the wider Visitor Economy has a significant role to play in tackling the challenges of climate change, waste reduction and non-renewable resource management. As one of the leading innovators in travel, we aim to transform the way we curate travel experiences for good.”

Thomson’s talk will be streamed from 2:20 PM - 2:40 PM (UTC+8) on 26th October. He will tackle the important issues around sustainability and look at the shifting priorities of Travel Managers post COVID.
