Alitalia - Transport Strike in Italy - Friday 16 June 2017

Alitalia has been forced to cancel several domestic and international flights scheduled for Friday 16th June, as well as some flights in the early morning of Saturday 17th June due to a Transport Sector Strike. Alitalia has taken special measures to mitigate customer inconvenience and to rebook the highest possible number of passengers affected by cancellations onto the first available flights.

SkyTeam announces lounge expansion and focus on technology

Cathay Pacific to extend successful Betsy Beer promotion

Cathay Pacific announced the extension of its Betsy Beer promotion, which will see the high-quality craft beer, specially brewed to be enjoyed at 35,000 feet, offered on flights between Hong Kong and Europe, Canada, the United States, Japan, New Zealand and Tel Aviv over the coming months. Named after “Betsy”, Cathay Pacific’s first aircraft, a Douglas DC-3 which flew passengers around the region in the 1940s and 1950s, Betsy Beer was first introduced on flights between Hong Kong and destinations in the United Kingdom – Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester – in March, while services to Australia followed suit in April.

Singapore Airlines to boost Paris services to 10 times weekly

Singapore Airlines (SIA) will be increasing flight frequency to France’s capital city Paris, to 10 per week from the current seven during the Northern Winter operating season - 29th October 2017 to 24th March 2018. The three additional flights will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays to Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport as SQ334 (Singapore-Paris) and SQ333 (Paris-Singapore), starting 30th October 2017.

London Heathrow Airport has experienced an issue with its baggage systems this morning, 15th June 2017 which is affecting airlines operating from Terminal 3 and 5. Bag drop desks are now open and operating normally in Terminals 3 and 5.

Please be advised that starting on 13th June 2017, date of ticket issuance, the Lufthansa Group will introduce a surcharge for advanced seat assignments and checked luggage for flights within Europe and Germany for agency bookings. The price for chargeable advanced seat assignments on Lufthansa operated flights in economy class for tickets within Europe and Germany will increase by 5 EUR/4 GBP/5 USD.

Delta grows network between Boston, New York, Oregon and Europe

Delta has expanded its seasonal transatlantic network with the introduction of new daily nonstop service between Boston and Dublin, New York-JFK and Glasgow, as well as returning service from JFK to Berlin and Lisbon. Delta will also launch nonstop seasonal service between Portland, Oregon and London-Heathrow, which will operate four days a week.

Etihad Airways expands Boeing 787 network in Europe

Etihad Airways announced plans to boost its European Dreamliner network with the deployment of Boeing 787-9 aircraft to Amsterdam and Madrid. The 299-seat Dreamliners will be introduced on year-round scheduled services to Amsterdam from 1st September, and to Madrid, effective 1st October, joining Düsseldorf and Zurich as the airline’s other European Dreamliner services.
