Singapore Airlines to boost Paris services to 10 times weekly

Singapore Airlines (SIA) will be increasing flight frequency to France’s capital city Paris, to 10 per week from the current seven during the Northern Winter operating season - 29th October 2017 to 24th March 2018. The three additional flights will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays to Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport as SQ334 (Singapore-Paris) and SQ333 (Paris-Singapore), starting 30th October 2017.

Lufthansa Group introduces surcharge for advanced seat assignments and checked luggage for flights within Europe and Germany

Please be advised that starting on 13th June 2017, date of ticket issuance, the Lufthansa Group will introduce a surcharge for advanced seat assignments and checked luggage for flights within Europe and Germany for agency bookings. The price for chargeable advanced seat assignments on Lufthansa operated flights in economy class for tickets within Europe and Germany will increase by 5 EUR/4 GBP/5 USD.

Virgin Australia and Air Canada launch codeshare services

Virgin Australia has announced codeshare services on Air Canada flights between Los Angeles and three major Canadian cities, enabling customers to enjoy new, seamless connections between Australia and Canada. Customers travelling on Virgin Australia’s 18 return services per week between Australia and Los Angeles will also be able to book travel on Air Canada’s flights between Los Angeles and: Toronto (YYZ); Calgary (YYC); and Montreal (YUL) Virgin Australia customers can earn Velocity Points when travelling on eligible codeshare services.

QantasLink Hopping to Kangaroo Island

QantasLink announced it will launch flights to Kangaroo Island, providing travellers with a new destination on its domestic network. From December, QantasLink will offer flights to Kangaroo Island from both Adelaide and Melbourne with a schedule that sees more flights during peak seasons, providing around 20,000 seats a year using its Dash-8 50 seat Q300 and 74 seat Q400 aircraft.

United Airlines announces non-stop service between Los Angeles and Singapore

United Airlines (UAL) announced that it will introduce daily nonstop flights between its Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) hub and Singapore's Changi Airport (SIN), effective October 27th, 2017 (westbound), subject to government approval. The flight between LAX and SIN will set the new distance record for any airline operating a flight to or from the United States, at 8,700 miles.

Emirates partners with BMW Group for its new fleet of Chauffeur-drive cars

Emirates has partnered with BMW Group to provide a fleet of luxury automobiles for its complimentary Chauffeur-drive service for Business Class passengers in the UAE. The new fleet, featuring BMW 520i Touring cars, are being rolled out progressively from now until the end of the year, as the previous fleet of cars are retired.

Qantas and Emirates: Changes to Sydney-Auckland route

Qantas will introduce twice-daily* Airbus A330 flights on the Sydney-Auckland route, as part of operational changes to the joint Qantas-Emirates network across the Tasman. From 13th July 2017, Emirates will suspend its daily EK418 and EK419 A380 flights between Sydney and Auckland, with those flights replaced by the Qantas A330 services.

Qantas introduces digital boarding passes on international services

Qantas has introduced mobile check-in and digital boarding passes for customers travelling between Australia and New Zealand, the first step towards more seamless travel across the Tasman. The technology is being rolled out as part of the airline’s strategy to speed up the journey through the airport for customers travelling internationally.

Sydney Airport welcomes additional train services

Sydney Airport has welcomed the announcement by the NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance that Transport for NSW will increase the frequency of trains on the T2 Airport Line from later this year. Minister Constance announced that the State Government will provide an additional 200 airport train services per week by the end of 2017.

Emirates to launch third daily Brisbane service

Emirates announced it will introduce a third daily service to Brisbane, Australia from 1st December 2017, complementing Emirates’ existing two daily services. The direct service, to be operated on a B777-200LR aircraft with eight seats in First Class, 42 in Business Class and 216 in Economy Class, will increase capacity on the route by 3,724 seats a week, inbound and outbound between Brisbane and Emirates’ hub Dubai.

Los Angeles Airport Terminal changes in May 2017

Over a five-day period in May, one-third of LAX's nearly 70 airline partners will relocate their operations, many of them to new terminals, others to new ticket counters in their current home. The moves will take place the nights of May 12th, 14th and 16th.

Qatar Airways announces third daily direct flight to Bali Denpasar

Qatar Airways has announced that commencing 7th May 2017, the airline will operate a third daily non-stop route from Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH) to Bali Denpasar (DPS). The new direct flight, which commences on 7th May this year, will operate with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

SAS to fly direct from Stockholm to Miami from October

SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) is launching a new direct route between Stockholm (ARN) and Miami (MIA) from October 2017, which will depart once a week on Sundays starting on the 29th October. SAS now flies direct from Stockholm to Miami, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Hong Kong.

Virgin Australia turns on inflight Wi-Fi

Virgin Australia has commenced a three-month testing period of inflight wireless internet access on one of its Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Guests flying on the Wi-Fi enabled aircraft will be able to use the service free of charge during the testing period and can enjoy access to popular streaming services Netflix, Stan and Pandora on their devices while in the air.

Qatar Airways to increase Bangkok service to five daily nonstop flights

Qatar Airways plans to introduce a fifth daily non-stop service from Doha to Bangkok from 1st June, 2017. The increased frequency, along with its double-daily Phuket flights and the five-month-old Krabi operations (four flights a week), will take the number of weekly Qatar Airways departures from Thailand to Doha to 53.

Qantas new Kangaroo route on Sale - London-Perth-Melbourne on the B787

Qantas customers can now book non-stop flights from the UK to Australia for the first time, with tickets for Qantas' London Heathrow-Perth route on sale now. Daily flights will begin on 25th March 2018 and form part of a new London Heathrow-Perth-Melbourne return service, a new QF9/10.

Etihad Airways A380 goes double daily to Sydney

Etihad Airways announced all 14 weekly flights on the popular Abu Dhabi – Sydney route will be operated with its flagship A380 aircraft, effective 29th October 2017. The current daily A380 Sydney flights will be joined by a second daily superjumbo service, upgraded from a 328-seat Boeing 777-300ER.
