France ATC strikes 6th-10th March 2017

ABTA has advised that UNSA-ICNA, the third largest union for air traffic controllers in France, has called for 5 days of strike action from the 6th until the 10th March 2017. As a result of the proposed industrial action, it may be necessary for airlines to make adjustments to flights that are scheduled to operate to and from France during the strike hours.

Virgin Atlantic to launch only direct flight between London Heathrow and Barbados

Virgin Atlantic has announced plans to launch the only direct flight from London Heathrow to Barbados. The new, twice weekly service will launch on 12th December 2017 to help make Christmas in the Caribbean a reality for even more holidaymakers.

British Airways – Changes to UK Domestic

For travel from 1st April 2017, Club Europe will be introduced on all British Airways (BA) mainline and BA CityFlyer UK domestic services. BA are also replacing UK Domestic with Euro Traveller as the economy cabin.

British Airways – Industrial action 3rd to 9th March

All British Airways (BA) customers will be able to fly to their destinations, despite a further seven days of proposed industrial action by Mixed Fleet Unite, which represents one of BA’s five cabin crew fleets, between Friday 3rd March and Thursday 9th March (inclusive). Flights on Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th March: All flights to and from London Gatwick will operate as normal.

High winds affecting travel in northern Europe

Due to the poor weather forecast, it has been agreed between Heathrow Airport, National Air Traffic Services (NATS) and airlines using the airport, that the number of overall flights in the schedule will be reduced.

Emirates to offer services to Phnom Penh in Cambodia

Qantas introduces Netflix, Spotify and Foxtel on board

Qantas customers on Wi-Fi enabled domestic flights will be able to watch their favourite shows, avoid missing out on live sport and listen to almost any song they like, with Foxtel, Netflix and Spotify coming on board to provide content in 2017. Delta Air Lines new Nashville to Raleigh-Durham service

Delta is linking Nashville, Tennessee and Raleigh-Durham, North Caroline with new nonstop service in June, becoming the first airline to offer both First Class seating and a business traveler’s schedule on the route. Two daily round-trip flights between Tennessee’s Capital City and North Carolina’s Research Triangle will run on a Delta Connection 76-seat jet with room for 12 customers in First Class, 12 in Delta Comfort+ and 52 in the Main Cabin.
