Alaska Airlines and Finnair announce frequent flyer partnership

Frequent flyers earn miles/points as Finnair starts San Francisco-Helsinki service June 1st. Alaska Airlines and Finnair are teaming up to give members of their frequent flyer programs the opportunity to earn miles/points on each others flights as Finnair expands its wings with new flights from San Francisco.

Eurostar launches its new state-of-the-art e320 trains on the London-Brussels route

Eurostar, the high-speed rail service between the UK and mainland Europe, previewed its new e320 train on the London-Brussels route in advance of its introduction into service on Sunday 28th May. The arrival of the new trains on the Brussels service includes 17 new e320 trains and the refurbishment of its original trains.

Following an Ariana Grande concert this evening, May 22, 2017, a large explosion had been reported at Manchester Arena. Manchester Victoria station, which is close to the concert venue, has been closed and all trains cancelled.

Emirates to launch third daily Brisbane service

Emirates announced it will introduce a third daily service to Brisbane, Australia from 1st December 2017, complementing Emirates’ existing two daily services. The direct service, to be operated on a B777-200LR aircraft with eight seats in First Class, 42 in Business Class and 216 in Economy Class, will increase capacity on the route by 3,724 seats a week, inbound and outbound between Brisbane and Emirates’ hub Dubai.

KLM to launch a direct service to Mumbai

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is launching a direct service to India’s largest city, Mumbai, effective 29th October 2017. During the 2017-2018 winter season, KLM will operate three weekly flights to Mumbai, departing on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Qatar Airways announces third daily direct flight to Bali Denpasar

Qatar Airways has announced that commencing 7th May 2017, the airline will operate a third daily non-stop route from Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH) to Bali Denpasar (DPS). The new direct flight, which commences on 7th May this year, will operate with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

American Airlines launches new service to three European cities from Dallas Fort Worth and Chicago

American Airlines launches new, daily seasonal nonstop service between Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) and between Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN). The new summer service complements year-round service to Rome, Amsterdam and Barcelona from other American hubs and will run through September 30th, 2017.

SAS to fly direct from Stockholm to Miami from October

SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) is launching a new direct route between Stockholm (ARN) and Miami (MIA) from October 2017, which will depart once a week on Sundays starting on the 29th October. SAS now flies direct from Stockholm to Miami, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Hong Kong.

Qantas new Kangaroo route on Sale - London-Perth-Melbourne on the B787

Qantas customers can now book non-stop flights from the UK to Australia for the first time, with tickets for Qantas' London Heathrow-Perth route on sale now. Daily flights will begin on 25th March 2018 and form part of a new London Heathrow-Perth-Melbourne return service, a new QF9/10.

Emirates presents Microsoft Surface tablets loan service to US-bound First and Business Class customers

First and Business Class passengers will be able to borrow tablets on board Emirates’ US-bound flights allowing them to continue working during their flight. The new service is in response to the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) directive which requires all passengers travelling on non-stop flights to the US from Dubai to check-in their laptops, tablets, and other personal electronic devices larger than a smart phone.

Breeze through boarding with British Airways

British Airways is transforming its customers' airport experience by becoming the first UK airline to introduce automated biometric technology throughout the airport – with the launch of self-service boarding gates. Following a successful trial last June, the first three boarding gates for UK domestic flights departing from Heathrow Terminal 5 are now open and more than 4,000 customers have already benefited from the new technology.
