Singapore Airlines (SIA) will launch the world’s longest commercial flights in October, with non-stop services between Singapore and New York using the new Airbus A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range). Flights are to be launched on 11th October 2018, to Newark Liberty International Airport.

US & Australia are implementing new restrictions on powders in carry-on

From June 30, the Australian Government is enforcing new limits on how much powder product you can pack in carry-on baggage on international flights and tougher screening at airport security. The new rules will also apply to Australian domestic passengers departing from international terminals.

Changes to UK Aviation security

Governments aviation security measures that were introduced all inbound direct flights to the UK from the following countries: Egypt, Jordan Lebanon Saudi Arabia Tunisia, Turkey Restrictions on carrying large phones, laptops and tablets in the cabin have been lifted on all UK bound flights from the following airports: Antalya (Turkey) Bodrum (Turkey) Cairo (Egypt) Dalaman (Turkey) Hurghada (Egypt) Istanbul Atatürk (Turkey) Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (Turkey) Izmir (Turkey) Luxor (Egypt) Marsa Alam (Egypt) Tunis-Carthage International (Tunisia) Passengers on flights where restrictions have been lifted will now be able to take large phones, laptops, tablets and accessories into the cabin with them. Restrictions have also been lifted on a number of individual airlines operating from other airports.

Virgin Australia to expand its presence in Greater China under new codeshare with Hainan Airlines

Virgin Australia and Hainan Airlines have announced a new codeshare agreement that will create a streamlined travel experience for guests flying between Australia and mainland China. Under this new agreement, the codeshare will enable: Guests travelling from China to access an expanded network of Virgin Australia domestic connections within Australia and across the trans-Tasman, including Cairns, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide, Perth and Auckland Velocity Frequent Flyer members to earn Velocity Points and Status Credits and Fortune Wings Club members to earn Points and Status Qualifying Points when flying with either airline under the codeshare Guests to book all flights, including connecting flights, under the one booking, with a single baggage drop where permitted In addition to the codeshare, eligible guests under both frequent flyer programs will be afforded with additional customer benefits when travelling on all Hong Kong Airlines operated flights (excluding to and from North America), and on international services between Australia, New Zealand and Greater China.

Air New Zealand and Qantas have announced plans for a reciprocal codeshare agreement that leverages the strengths of each carrier’s domestic networks, making travel within Australia and New Zealand easier. Under the codeshare Qantas intends to add its code on up to 30 routes on Air New Zealand’s domestic network and Air New Zealand intends to add its code on up to 85 routes on Qantas’ domestic network.
