Holiday travellers could soon be denied entry to countries like France, Spain, Italy, and Portugal without a new permit. The new travel permit is set to come into force in 2024 and will be called the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), which came into place after Brexit.
Officially, the ETIAS is not a visa; it’s “a pre-travel authorisation system” like the US ESTA and Canadian eTA.

United Planning to Launch eVTOL Services in San Francisco
United Airlines wants to launch eVTOL aircraft flights in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The carrier is partnering with Embraer’s Brazilian subsidiary Eve Air Mobility on the project, with both companies now set to work “with local and state officials, infrastructure, energy and technology providers to ensure the appropriate infrastructure is in place,” to introduce eVTOL services.
Nobu to Open Bangkok & New York Hotels Under Plaza Athenee Brand
Nobu Hospitality has signed an agreement with Thai real estate group Asset World Corp Public Company Limited (AWC) to open hotels in Bangkok and New York.
The deal will see the former Hotel Plaza Athenee New York – which closed during the COVID-19 pandemic – reopen in 2026 as the Plaza Athenee Nobu Hotel and Spa New York.
